“Mediation for Design Professionals: How Did We Get Here?”
Speakers: Paul J. Weinberg, Attorney at Law
Christine Drage, Founding Partner, W&D Law
Kevin J. McGrath, J.D., Vice President, Professional Services, Risk Strategies Company
Society is clearly becoming more litigious, and design professionals are being drawn into litigation with ever-increasing frequency. Insurance companies and clients alike want to minimize their risk; mediation is a relatively inexpensive and rapid alternative to litigation. How does it work, and how can you prepare for it?
Most design professionals, and even their office and business managers, do not have an understanding of the litigation process in the event of a construction defect or an accident. This seminar is designed to fill that gap and to educate them on what their rights and obligations are and how to take advantage of them in
obtaining a better outcome. Experienced attorneys and a well-qualified risk manager, also licensed as an attorney, will present comprehensive solutions and explanations of these issues and answer and respond to questions from audience members to leave them with a much better understanding of the benefits and gains from this process.
